Sinus infections can be aggravating. However, a treatment for sinus
infection will make you feel a lot better and help your body to heal
faster.
A sinus infection, or sinusitis, is the inflammation of the sinus
and nasal cavities. The symptoms may come and go, but an acute sinus
infection can last up to eight weeks. Sometimes an acute sinus
infection will heal within ten days; however, if this happens the
infection often reoccurs around three times per year. Sinus infections
often need to be treated by a doctor because they often require an
antibiotic so that your body can completely heal. If a sinus infection
is not properly treated, it can turn into a chronic sinus infection. A
chronic sinus infection is an infection that lasts either more than
eight weeks or one that heals within ten days and returns more than
three times per year. Either way sinus infections can make you feel
miserable, and treatment for sinus infection should be rendered.
Sinus infections are commonly confused with allergies and the
common cold. The symptoms are fairly similar. Someone with a sinus
infection will experience pressure in the face, especially around the
eyes and in the cheeks. Some people also experience a dull headache
that seems to continue even after pain medication is consumed or pain
on one side of the head. Because of the location of the sinus
cavities, your ears and/or teeth may also ache. A sinus infection can
also make you congested and this is normally accompanied by a thick
mucus discharge. Many people try to treat sinus infections using over
the counter cold medicines. While this may help ease the symptoms, it
doesn' actually heal the infection. This is why a trip to the doctor
may be needed.
In addition to antibiotics, people may also use various home
remedies in order to help the symptoms subside. A home nasal drip can
often help cure congestion as well as an over the counter decongestant
can. If you feel a sinus infection, or any other illness for that
matter, coming on, you can consume a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar
to help ward away infection. It' also important to eat a healthy
diet. Often infections occur when your body is lacking nutrients that
it needs.
